Neuron Cover

The Goal
Angelique, a researcher in our lab, reached out to collaborate on a cover design for her team's paper. We aimed to visually explain how a novel marker offers a glimpse into the lives of astrocytes and their dual impact on our neurological health.
The Impact
We designed a cover that sets a scene within the brain, illuminated by CD49f, the protein marker for astrocytes. In this visual, astrocytes in a normal state are shown supporting neuronal activity. However, in an inflamed state, they become reactive, secreting a toxin that harms neurons. Though our design wasn’t chosen for the final cover, Angelique and I had a lot of fun creating it together, and we’re truly proud of what we accomplished!
